As a guide, Boston Scientific offers two types of benefits; core, which you receive automatically if you're eligible, and voluntary options, which you must enroll for if you want coverage. For voluntary options, you have 31 calendar days from your start date to elect coverage with your first day (start date) counting as day 1 of 31. Additionally, benefits you elect within the 31 days will have an effective date retro to your start date. If you do not enroll during that time, you will not have an opportunity to sign up until the next annual enrollment period.
