Open Enrollment is your once-a-year opportunity to choose the benefits that fit your life!
First, you need to know about the important changes and enhancements coming next year. We’re raising the bar for how we support you and those you love. Here’s what’s happening…
Boston Scientific recognizes that navigating the health care system can often be confusing, time-consuming, and frustrating.
It’s time to save your energy! For 2020, it’s all about simplification—supporting your health care journey and making quicker connections to the care you need. View a short video to learn more.
Cue, MyQHealth Care Coordination and health care navigation. Take a look at what MyQHealth is all about:
Beginning January 1, 2020, for anything related to your health care benefits, you’ll have access to MyQHealth Care Coordinators. They will organize and simplify your medical, dental, vision, prescription drug, and other health benefits to provide you with a better experience. And, when you need support, their nurses, clinicians, and benefit specialists are ready to advocate for your health care needs.
Here’s a sampling of how MyQHealth can help:
The HR Service Center will continue to handle your transactional questions (how can I enroll or add a dependent, etc.) and will process transactions (benefit enrollment elections and life event changes).
Connect with a Care Coordinator via phone at 855-649-3857 Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Eastern standard time) or by visiting the MyQHealth website for support comparing your options.
With the addition of MyQHealth, UMR is simply a better fit for us. It’s well-positioned for seamless integration with MyQHealth, improving your overall health care experience. UnitedHealthcare is the largest single health carrier in the United States and a recognized leader in the health and wellbeing industry.
As a UMR member, you’ll have access to an extensive provider network—which includes almost 98% of current BCBS providers and facilities...and you’ll see several Plan enhancements.
This change does not affect the Kaiser or HMSA plans.
UMR brings their extensive network and advanced tools that provide quality measures and estimate, personalized health care costs. You’ll also have access to in-network providers and facilities that are not in the BCBS network.
Connect with MyQHealth for support comparing your options and to verify your provider is in the UMR provider network.

About the Health Savings Account (HSA)
The HSA is available to participants in the Consumer HDHP. HealthEquity will continue to be the administrator of the HSA, which is a tax-advantaged account that pays for eligible medical expenses. There will be no account or HSA card changes—and Boston Scientific will continue to contribute to the HSA. Learn more.
In December, UMR will mail a new ID card to your home address for you to use in 2020. You’ll notice the phone number directs you to MyQHealth — your dedicated resource for all your health-related needs.
Please note: You may see Harvard Pilgrim or First Plus listed on your ID card. In some locations, UMR has additional partnerships to provide better access to providers.
We understand you may be apprehensive about this change. But we’ve taken great care to make sure there is minimal disruption. In fact, almost 98% of current providers and facilities where BSC employees and family members are receiving care are in-network with UMR.
In certain health care situations (e.g., maternity, cancer, acute heart disease), you may be able to continue using a provider outside of the UMR network for up to 90 days at in-network benefit levels. This allows extra time to safely transition care to a UMR network provider. To request a transition of care, please complete and submit the TOC form. You can connect directly with MyQHealth for personalized assistance through this process.

Increasing health care costs are affecting all of us—individuals and employers. For 2020, you’ll see an increase in your per paycheck contributions for medical coverage. The good news—BSC’s increases (2.8%) are well below the national average (5.3%).
When you make decisions for things like which plan to enroll in, where you receive care (e.g., Urgent Care Clinic vs. the ER), and where you receive services (e.g., lab work), it affects us all. The more involved and educated each of us are as buyers of health care, the more we’ll be able to keep increases to a minimum. MyQHealth will be available to play a key role in supporting you through these decisions by guiding you to high quality, cost-effective options for care and services.
A Word About Medical Plan Premium Increases
BSC is making many enhancements to simplify your experience and provide you with better value for your health care dollars. It’s important to know that the increases, which usually happen every year, are because of the realities of, and challenges with, today’s health care system. They are not a result of the move to UMR, the addition of MyQHealth, or any other enhancements we are making to our programs. In fact, introducing MyQHealth and accessing Care Coordinators can support our becoming better consumers of health care and may help contain costs in the future.
BSC is introducing a new vision plan option, offering two choices under EyeMed: a Low Option and a High Option. The Low Option is the same as the current plan. The new High Option includes enhanced benefits:
